About the route
This route begins in the lively Preá and Jericoacoara region. We travel through three Brazilian states before reaching the incredible Parnaíba River Delta, which we spend two days exploring.
From there, we continue to Atins, where we stay for two nights. This beautiful village lies at the mouth of the Preguiças River, at the gateway to Lençóis Maranhenses National Park.
Finally, we cross the entire Lençóis Maranhenses region to Santo Amaro, where we spend another two nights exploring this extraordinary national park and kiting in its freshwater lagoons and flooded fields.
Day by Day
22 November – Check in Preá
23 November – From Preá, kite around the Serrote in Jericoacoara, then ride an offshore-wind section to the Guriú River. Stop for sandwiches in Tatajuba, cross the Camocim River, and finish at Maceió beach (12 km past Camocim). Strong winds expected. Overnight at Vila Zen Hotel. Distance: 60 km.
24 November – Kitesurf from Maceió to Barra Grande, crossing from Ceará into Piauí. Overnight at Pousada Titas. Distance: 52 km.
25 November – From Barra Grande, kite around Luís Correia harbour and pause at Pedra do Sal for a snack. Cross the Parnaíba River and arrive at the stunning Ilha dos Poldros, where you’ll spend the night in a unique, natural-paradise hotel. Distance: 55 km.
26 November – Magic River Day
A truly special day. We ride approximately 25 km, combining ocean sections with an incredible river downwinder. After the session, we return by boat to Ilha dos Poldros, where we spend the night. This is one of the most exclusive and unique pousadas in the entire region.
27 November – Crossing the Parnaíba Delta
We cross the entire Parnaíba Delta, riding from Ilha dos Poldros to Arpoador, a beach in Tutóia. Around 60 km of pure, untouched nature, mixing wave sections with flat water. A wild and unforgettable day in one of Brazil’s most pristine environments.
28 November – Arpoador to Atins
We kite along the Pequenos Lençóis and finish at the mouth of the Preguiças River, where Atins is located. This marks the gateway to the Lençóis Maranhenses—an extraordinary landscape of vast sand dunes and freshwater lagoons. Distance: 50 km.
29 November – Atins Free Day
Enjoy this lovely place at the mouth of the Preguiças River. You can simply chill—or kite!
30 November – Crossing the Lençóis Maranhenses
One of the most unique days of the trip. We start with a 25 km ride along the coast from Atins. Then we move inland by 4×4 to reach the lagoons, where we continue kiting across crystal-clear freshwater. We finish in Santo Amaro, riding through flooded fields in a surreal landscape. A magical day to experience the dunes—and to finally rinse the salt from both body and gear.
1 December – Lençóis Maranhenses Day
We will explore this awesome place, kiting on lagoons, lakes, and flooded fields.
2 December – Check out Santo Amaro.
