Going to Hawaii for the first time is always such a special moment. It’s that feeling of being in a movie, created by the vast array of memories that we have from there, after seeing it so many times on our screens. That same feeling comes very closely accompanied by a sense…
of crossing the boundaries of your comfort zone. It can be a little overwhelming at times, with a bit of fear and discomfort, but that’s just the stage that you have to cross in order to begin a then deeper connection with yourself and that location, to prepare yourself for the action ahead.
When we get there, we will have to gather all of our skills to be put to their full potential in some of the most challenging conditions in the world.
Winds that can vary from 12 up to 30 knots, waves bigger and more powerful then you’ve ever seen, lava reefs covering the sea floor, all the elements that raises the bar in terms of a challenging set up.
Once the moment arrives, the excitement takes over and you are driven by the forces of flow. It’s an experience that’s hard to described; a feeling of of such intensity, that can elevate us to another level of awareness. We’re tuning up the frequencies of our body and minds, aligning them in tune with those forces of nature.
That energy is then carried back to the beach and with us to our lives, accompanied by the feeling of overcoming a challenge and the euphoria of still being alive on this beautiful planet. 🙂
The beers we share immersed on those moments are more tasteful than ever, and they feel like trophies that we received at the end of each day.
Of course not every day is extremely challenging and in hazardous conditions… There are some fun spots to kite and surf in smaller waves, and even good options for when the waves are huge. But it is Hawaii after all, and all of its mythical aspects are still there to make the experience as powerful as it is, even in the lighter conditions.
You can see all of these emotions reflected on the faces of our coaching trip guests. To be able to see that this trip was such a meaningful experience for each of our guests is a great pleasure for me, and my feelings are amplified through this experience.
We all share those feelings and an urge to seek these kind of experiences of crossing our boundaries and rising up to the occasion. That’s what brings us together and that’s what keeps us coming back for more. There is this deeper need to tune ourselves up with those higher frequencies, and keep on flowing on an endless and ever challenging “Surfin Sem Fim”.
