Route Levels

Beginner

These downwind routes are appropriate for riders who can body drag back to board, self-rescue and stay upwind reliably

 

Easy

These downwind routes are appropriate for riders who:

  • Have at least some experience in small (<1m) waves
  • Have done at least one downwinder 
  • Are confident of their ability to kite for at least 2 hours per day

Intermediate

Routes are appropriate for riders who 

  • Have more experience in 1-2m waves and are progressing with wave riding
  • Have done multiple downwinders 
  • Are confident of their ability to kite for at least 3 hours per day
  • Can ride toe-side for short distances

 

Difficult

These downwind routes are appropriate for riders who:

  • Are confident riding 1-2m waves
  • Have done multiple downwinders 
  • Are confident of their ability to kite for at least 4 hours per day
  • Can ride toe-side for long distances

Golden

This downwind route (Ironman) is appropriate for riders who:

  • Are confident riding 1-2m waves in any direction 
  • Have done multiple downwinders, including at least one SSF blue/red/black route
  • Are confident of their ability to kite for more than 4 hours per day
